Trevor started in disaster response with The Canadian Red Cross in Woodstock ON in 1997. Since then, he has worked with Red Cross and The Salvation Army to provide response and leadership in Ontario. Currently, as an Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Specialist for The Salvation Army, Ontario Division, Trevor is responsible for EDS team deployment, training and logistics. Working with over 100 team members and 25 vehicles across the province, Trevor ensures that the team members are well trained and able to respond to calls from municipalities and Emergency Management Ontario. Trevor has been a part of dozens of responses from support to the Red Cross for 9/11 to over 50+ house fires, and floods, snowstorms, tornadoes and other events in response and management roles.

Beyond his work in Ontario, Trevor has been a volunteer member of the Disaster Response and Emergency Medical Team for Humanity First Canada. Trevor was responsible for Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) as a member of the logistics teamand helped them attain World Health Organization EMT certification. Since 2013, Trevor has been deployed to Roxas City in The Philippines, Houston Texas, Coopers Town, The Bahamas and Farafagana, Madagascar.

For the past 27 years, Trevor has also been an instructor with The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Woodstock. He runs the music program along with cooking, first aid and disaster training programs at the Corps. The Sea Cadets have participated in training with both The Salvation Army and Humanity First Canada along with their own local training.

Trevor also owns and operates ONSite Medical Response, an event EMS provider based in London. ONSite provides medical coverage at dozens of events across southern Ontario. ONSite has also partnered with CDRO to provide medical coverage during emergency responses.
Why CDRO?
The passion I have for disaster response, along with my company’s ability to support CDRO deployments with emergency medical coverage, makes working with CDRO a natural fit. The CDRO team is fantastic and great to work with, which makes it a pleasure to be a part of the team.

I think it’s vital to motivate young people to learn more about disaster management and response. I have spent several years mentoring post-secondary school students, recruiting young people to volunteer at The Salvation Army EDS as well as train the Sea Cadets and Scouts Canada youth in emergency response. With my connection with CDRO, the paramedic, nursing and firefighting students who work for ONSite can also gain valuable experience with emergency response.
